Indian Boxer Amit Panghal gave India the first gold medal in the Asian Boxing Championship on Friday. In the 52 kg weight category, he won a one-way victory against South Korean boxer Kim Inkyu Korea 5-0.
This was his maiden international competition since moving up to 52kg from the 49Kg division earlier this year. Panghal had won a bronze in the 2015 edition of the event.

Kavinder Singh Bisht and Deepak Singh lost in the finals of 56 kg and 49 kg category respectively. National champion Deepak Singh had to be satisfied with silver medal In the final, he got the gold medal by defeating Nodirjon Mirzahmedov of Uzbekistan.
Panghal has won the second gold medal this year. He also won gold in the Strandja Memorial Tournament in Bulgaria in February. Pangal has won gold in the Asian Games held in Jakarta last year. In this competition, 6 boxers out of 13 were Indians, Amit Panghal, Kavinder Singh Bisht, Deepak Singh, Ashish Kumar, Pooja Rani, and Simranjeet Kaur reached the finals.
