Bumrah will not play in ODI series against Australia-New Zealand

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to give rest to fast bowler Jaspreet Bumrah for the ODI series against Australia and New Zealand. They will replace Mohammed Siraj with Jaspreet Bumrah. India will play three ODI against Australia from January 12 in this series. Team India will also play five-ODI against New Zealand from January 23 to February 3.

BCCI’s general secretary Amitabh Chaudhary said in a statement that seeing the excessive burden on bowler Jaspreet Bumrah, the decision has been taken to give him rest before the home series against Australia.

Yet Siraj has not debated in ODIs. He last played T-20 against Sri Lanka in the Nidahas Trophy in March 2018. Siraj, who has been playing for India A from July, has taken 47 wickets in eight matches. He has takenĀ 5 wicket haul in 3 Matches. He took 8 wickets against West Indies A and 7 wickets against England Lions.
