IPL Highlights: Mumbai Indians Beat Kings XI Punjab in Last-Ball Thriller

Mumbai Indians (MI) defeated Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) by 3 wickets at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. In IPL 2019, there was an exciting match between Kings XI Punjab and Mumbai India on Wednesday. By the end of the last moment, this match was won by Kieron Pollard’s stupendous batting, finally Mumbai Indians won by three wickets. There were so many fours and sixes in the match that cricket fans were drenched with ‘rain of runs’.

MI were down and out in their stiff run-chase until the 12th over when they were 94/4. The top order batsmen got decent starts but failed to capitalize. Quinton de Kock (24), Siddesh Lad (15) and Suryakumar Yadav (21) all perished to leave Pollard at the other end. However, the Trinidadian smacked 10 sixes and 3 fours to take MI to the doorstep of victory before getting out in the final over. But by then, it was too late for KXIP. Earlier, KXIP scored 197/4 in 20 overs courtesy KL Rahul’s maiden IPL century. The KXIP opener remained unbeaten on 100. Kings XI made a huge score of 197 runs for 4 wickets in 20 overs. For the team where KL Rahul scored a century, Chris Gayle also scored a 63 in the stormy innings. Chasing 197 runs, the wicket kept falling from one end of Mumbai but on the difficult day caretaker captain Kieron Pollard played a memorable innings (83 runs, 31 balls, three fours, and 10 sixes). In the last over, Mumbai needed 15 runs to win and at last defeated Kings XI Punjab by 3 wickets.

The match was unfortunate for the Kings XI and despite losing the victory of Chris Gayle and Chris Gayle’s stormy innings, he had to face defeat. Following today’s victory, Mumbai Indians have reached number three in the points table, having eight points in their six matches. Kings XI’s team is in fourth place. Pollard was declared Man of the Match.
