Woman’s World T20, India v Ireland: India beat Ireland to reach semi-finals

Look at a place in the semi-finals of the ICC Women’s World T20, the Indian women’s cricket team defeat Ireland in a bid to shelter a spot among the last four. The match at the Providence Stadium in Guyana sees a high-flying Indian side take on the lowest ranked team in the tournament.

The Indian women have seen at least one player growing to the occasion and taking the team home. While it was Harmanpreet Kaur who snared a century in the opening fixture against New Zealand, Mithali Raj used her skill with a half-century against Pakistan in the next match. 

In their previous match, Ireland faced a massive 9-wicket overthrow to the hands of Australia, having achieved only 93/6 in their 20 overs. Chasing the worthless total, the Aussies repaired the target with more than 10 overs to spare. Such was the bay between the two teams, viewing which, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side might rest a few key players. Ireland required to win all of their residual matches to secure a spot in the semi-finals.
