All eyes turned to Manchester City after Liverpool won 3-0 against Bournemouth yesterday. Pep’s men did not fail to impress as Manchester City beat Chelsea at Etihad Stadium and looked like an indestructible force as they stormed with a 6-0 win against Chelsea.
The game started when City took the lead in the 4th minute with a goal from Raheem Sterling. Since then, Chelsea’s destruction started as City were 4-0 up within 25 minutes. After missing a sitter in the 8th minute, Sergio Aguero made up for his mistake when, minutes later, he shot a screamer from 25 meters into the upper right corner.
A loose back pass from Ross Barkley and Aguero’s brilliant anticipation gave defending champions an unassailable 3-goal lead with just 19 minutes. Ilkay Gundogan also joined the party when he curved the ball in the net in the 25th minute.
The first half ended with a 4-0 up. The second half started with Chelsea holding the ball, but a foul on Sterling by Cesar Azpilicueta in the penalty area led to a penalty that Aguero successfully converted into an eleventh Premier League hat-trick. The city continued its traditional passing game, and Sterling put the last nail in the coffin as he tapped into the net after a beautiful passing game the citizens.
The game ended 6-0 in favor of the hosts and they took the pole position in front of Liverpool, as they have a superior goal difference. Chelsea suffered the worst league defeat since 1991 when Nottingham Forest defeated them by 7-0 and now falls behind in sixth place behind rivals Arsenal FC.
