Mourinho is on the prowl for new midfielders and has reportedly whittled his shopping list down to six names: Real Madrid’s Toni Kroos, Chelsea’s Willian, Tottenham’s Victor Wanyama, Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Nice’s Jean-Michaël Seri and Napoli’s Jorginho, who is also being monitored by Liverpool. They all have their qualities but none really have that Fellaini-esque pow factor, although Wanyama has his moments.
Toni Kroos remains out with a knee injury, per the Press Association. Luka Modric and Marcelo have also been absent recently after picking up knocks and are not expected to feature against the Catalans. Marco Asensio could return to the team, however, following his absence against Alaves after he had his wisdom tooth removed.
Willian has worked under Mourinho before with the 54-year-old signing the 29-year-old from Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala back in the summer of 2013.
Yet the Manchester Evening News say Lukaku’s move to Manchester United has ended the Red Devils’ hopes of signing Willian as well.
The club are well-stocked when it comes to attacking options.
