Indian Gymnast Deepa Karmakar has reached the Walt Finals at the Gymnastics World Cup in Azerbaijan (Baku). In the first round of qualification, Deepa scored 8.666 and 5.8 in D, In the second round, she scored 5.6 and 8.533. In this way, her average score was 14.299. Then she qualifies for the final round of Artistic Gymnastics World Cup with 3rd position.
Same Mexico’s Morino Alexa ranked second with an average score of 14.533 and Carrie Z of America was ranked first with an average score of 14.700.
It is a puzzle bar that Deepa has tried the hardest hand in ‘Handsfree 540’ in the Walt Contest. The final match for Walt will be on Saturday. Deepa will also be participating in the Balanced Beam competition on Friday.
Riyaz Bhati, Vice President of Gymnastics Federation of India said, “Deepa’s performance is good. We should expect that she will make the place on the podium after the final on Saturday. She has taken another step towards Olympic qualification. “Earlier, Deepa had won a bronze medal in the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup in kothas, Germany in November last year. This was her first tournament after recovering from injury.
